Music for Winter Solstice with the Heliand Consort

Past event
Dec 20, 2014

Hi Neighbors! I thought you might like to know what's going on at my place of employment this Saturday, December 20, 7:30 pm.
“Music For a Winter Solstice” combines Renaissance-themed quintets by Milhaud and Roseman and Scandinavian solstice songs to evoke the short days, long dark nights and crystalline cold air of midwinter. The evening also includes contemporary works by D’Rivera and Valerie Coleman to create the festive feel of the holiday season. Heliand’s trademark sung portion includes songs by Vermont composer Don Jamison, portraying the bright stars of winter nights. The performance features Heliand Consort musicians Berta Fluke (flute), Elizabeth LeBlanc (clarinet), Rachael Elliott (bassoon), and Katie Oprea (oboe), with special guest artists Alan Parsley on the French horn.

Tickets: $20 in advance; $25 after 5pm day of the performance.
