Dear Neighbors,

Norman “Norm” Lavalette, bus driver for the South Burlington School District will be retiring this Friday, December 19th. You may know Norm because he has driven your child to school and/or he drove you when you were a child!

Please join your neighbors in giving Norm a well-deserved, heartfelt send off. There are many ways you can do this:

1) There will be a group send off at one of his is first morning bus stops (corner of Brownell & Deerfield). Neighbors will be gathering Friday morning at approximately 7:15am with well-wishing signs and cards.

2) Another gathering will be occurring at one of his final morning stops at approximately 7:25am at the cul-de-sac on Haymaker Lane.

3) Many people will also be meeting at Orchard School at 7:50am to greet the bus as it arrives and hopefully cajole Norm into some group photos (and hugs) with students, alumni and Orchard staff.

4) If you can’t join any of the group activities you can wave “goodbye” from your own driveway. Bus routes can be found at http://www.district.sf.sbschools.net/...click on parents, then transportation, then scroll down to bus schedules. Norm drives bus #7 for Orchard and for FHTMS/SBHS.

5) Should you want to do a little more for Norm we have been told that he absolutely LOVES Zachary’s pizza and anything having to do with the maintenance and improvement of his truck. Food of any type would probably be a big hit, too!

We hope you can take the time out of your busy holiday schedules to let Norm know how much we will miss his friendly nods, waves, and smiles and how much we appreciate his faithful service to our children.
