Last month's snowstorm-postponed concert of the Vermont Philharmonic will take place this Sunday. That means the musicians will have had (there's that future perfect tense again) three additional weeks to practice their entrances. Besides the previously scheduled excellent music by Brahms, Beethoven, von Weber, and Vermont composer David Gunn, the concert will add a piece by Music-COMP composer Alexander Maroney. Music-COMP is Vermont's music composition mentoring program for young composers. Both the Gunn and Maroney tunes are world premieres. You really ought not miss this splendid array of music, both classic and new, not when a ticket costs 17% less than a Starbucks flavored coffee sampler.
