The historic American independent film "Salt of the Earth" will be shown at the Maple Corner Community Center on Friday, March 7, at 7:00 PM. In this 1954 film written and directed by three victims of the Hollywood Blacklist, workers at a zinc mine call a general strike. It is only through the solidarity of the workers, and importantly the indomitable resolve of their wives, that they eventually triumph. The film was successfully suppressed on its opening, but over the years has come to be regarded as a classic. Rick Winston will introduce the film and lead a discussion afterwards. Admission is $5-10 at the door.
