Memory Trees and Candlelight Service Dec. 22

Past event
Dec 22, 2014

This post is to remind all that you have a few more days to submit the name(s) of individual(s) whom you wish to remember or honor by lighting a bulb for them on the Starksboro Memory Trees. Please send names and your donation by a check, made out to the Starksboro Fire Department to the Town Office by Thursday, December 18th. The names of all being remembered and honored will be read aloud during the ceremony on Monday, December 22nd. All are welcome to join in on a free soup supper at 6:00 p.m. and the Memory Tree lighting ceremony at 7:00 at the First Baptist Church.

The annual Starksboro Christmas Candlelight service at the historic Village Meeting House will be held at 7:30 p.m. This non-denominational service has been held for at least 50 years and is a Christmas tradition for many. The sanctuary will be beautifully lit by candle light and the 1884 mirrored oil lamp chandelier.

The Rev. John Burbank will lead a program of lessons and carols. Lois Burbank will play the piano for the singing of traditional carols and as accompaniment for the vocal and instrumental musicians. Hot cider, special Christmas cookies and other treats, will be served immediately following the service.

The Baptist Church and the Village Meeting House are located in the center of Starksboro Village on VT Route 116. Parking is available behind the Meeting House in the Town offices parking lot and at the First Baptist Church. Everyone is welcome. Please join us.
