"Shall the voters of the Town of Orwell vote to direct the Select Board to develop an Ordinance for the recreational use of ATV/UTV's on town roads? (by Australian Ballot)"

The petition above was circulated in June of 2024 by a group of concerned Orwell Town voters who sought to ensure that each and EVERY registered voter in the Town of Orwell has the opportunity to vote on this important, far-reaching issue. By petitioning for a vote by Australian Ballot we sought to demonstrate the will of the majority of all town voters, without the chance of the outside influence or pressure that can occur at Select Board Meetings, voting from the floor at Town Meeting, surveys, etc.

We apologize for any confusion in the wording of Article 2. on the ballot

TO CLARIFY:

A vote NO indicates that the voter is OPPOSED TO THE USE of ATVs/UTVs on town roads (The Select Board should NOT develop an Ordinance for the recreational use of ATVs/UTVs on town roads).

A vote YES indicates the voter's desire that the Select Board create an ordinance to allow the use.
