"March Madness" Basketball Tournament – for Women Only!

The Vermont Senior Games Women's 3-on-3 Basketball Championships are on Saturday, March 15, 2025, starting at 9 a.m. at the Rutland Recreation Community Center. Female masters athletes, ages 40 and up, are invited to participate.

The $45 per-person entry fee for the morning team play includes a minimum of three games. Referees, electronic scoreboards, medals, and a catered lunch are covered by the entry fee. An optional afternoon Basketball Shooting Skills competition will be held for an additional $10 fee. Team play starts at 9 a.m. The gym opens at 8 a.m. for warm-ups.

Women who reach age 40 on or before 12/31/2025 are eligible. In-state and out-of-state teams are signing up to participate. Teams compete in the age bracket of the squad's youngest player. Players compete on one team only.

Team play is 3-on-3 half-court, with two 15-minute halves. The Basketball Shooting Skills competition consists of players attempting 25 free throws, and 15 three-point shots from five stations around the arc.

Vermont Senior Games medals will be awarded to the top three teams in each five-year age bracket, and the top three individuals, also by five-year age groups, in each aspect of the Shooting Skills competition. Come join us for this inaugural women's event!
