Today - 5:30 pm on Zoom
The Vermont General Assembly has promoted affordability, sustainability, accessibility, and equity in health care for decades. Despite these many efforts, there continue to be winners and losers in a system designed to profit the few at the expense of the many. In order for all Vermonters to be guaranteed the promise of Act 48, we must establish universal healthcare in the state of Vermont. The Universal Health Care Caucus is dedicated to finding a legislative path towards achieving this goal.
Here is the agenda for our first official meeting of the 2025-2026 legislative biennium.
Introductions and icebreaker exercise (15 minutes)
Review of history of universal health care in Vermont by Ethan Parke (15 minutes)
Discussion about current landscape with Rep. McFaun and Rep. Cina (30 minutes)
- Identify current barriers
- Explore causes of rising costs
- Assess political will
- Consider impact of federal policy changes
Discussion about pathways forward (45 minutes)
- Review of current bills
- Identify additional ideas
- Consider strategy for advocacy and legislative action
