Curious about Buddhism or meditation? The spiritual community at Karuna Community Meditation invites you to join us for our weekly community circles, and/or our twice-monthly chanting and silent meditation.
People of all backgrounds and experiences are welcome to join Karuna Community Meditation for group meditation, spiritual friendship, and collective inquiry into how to meet these times with compassion, wisdom, and skillfulness.
Our guiding values are compassion, nonharm, equanimity, and spiritual inclusivity.
In 2025, we will continue our exploration of the Noble Eightfold Path. Folks are welcome to engage in optional readings from Joseph Goldstein's book Mindfulness.
Our community circle meets every Sunday from 10-11:15 AM, at Jenna's House Community Center, 117 Saint Johns Rd, Johnson, VT. Our community circles consist of grounding practices, an opening circle, dharma talk and discussion, and lightly guided meditation. Sometimes we sing or chant as well. No previous meditation experience necessary.
In addition, on the second and fourth Sundays of the month at 9 AM, we offer traditional Pali chanting and a 40-minute silent meditation.
We intend to make Karuna a space of spiritual and attentional sanctuary. We ask that all participants keep their phones silenced and out of view, unless there is an urgent matter to attend to.
Karuna Community Meditation was founded in 2021 by Molly Zapp, who began practicing meditation in 2006. Molly is a certified mindfulness meditation teacher through a program run by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach, under the mentorship of Devin Berry.
There is no fee charged; donations of any size are gratefully accepted, and never obligatory. Please email mollyzapp@live.com with any questions.
