"Birds, Bees & Tulip Trees" by Natalya Zahn

Past event
Feb 7, 2025, 4:30 to 7:30 PM

As part of Montpelier Art Walk, VNRC will be hosting an opening reception for our newest exhibit, "Birds, Bees & Tulip Trees" by artist Natalya Zahn of South Woodbury. Previously on display at the Tower Hill Botanic Garden in Boylston, Massachusetts, the exhibit is an exploration into the relationship between plants and pollinators through watercolor painting and textile design. Native pollinators are crucial to the health of our food chain, wildlife populations, and human health, and we are proud to bring this show to Vermont for the first time.

Natalya will be on site to talk about the inspiration and technique behind her work. A natural illustrator, designer and art educator, Natalya currently teaches 'Illustrating Botanicals' out of the Department of Agriculture, Landscape, and Environment (ALE) at the University of Vermont. You can see more of her work at http://www.natalya.com.

As always, we invite VNRC members and the general public to come see the art and learn a bit more about our work. Last year, Vermont became just the second state in the country to ban neonicotinoid pesticides - neonics for short - with the passage of Act 182. Drawing on conversations with scientists, advocates, beekeepers, and other stakeholders, our most recent Vermont Environmental Report tells the story of how that law came to be and what the future might hold for Vermont's pollinators. Pick up a copy of our Fall 2024 VER and enjoy some light refreshments while supplies last. We hope to see you there!
