Hi neighbors! Reminder -- the Tunbridge Conservation Commission is excited to welcome Emily Ruff for the second Winter Evening. Join us at the Tunbridge Public Library this Friday 2/7 at 7 pm!
All are welcome, refreshments are provided, and the events are free – donations graciously accepted!
Emily's talk is titled "Protecting Vermont's Ecosystem - Backyard Strategies for Corridor Conservation."
Emily will share stories from the Orange Uplands and their efforts to protect an 80,000 acre high priority wildlife corridor, diverse wetland habitat, sensitive watershed, and rare plant communities. Through these examples, she'll highlight ways each of us - whether stewarding a forest or a small backyard - can implement strategies that support the protection of greater corridor ecosystems.
Emily Ruff is director of Sage Mountain Botanical Sanctuary, a center in Orange Vermont founded in 1987 to foster opportunities for conservation, education, and healing. A practicing herbalist and educator for over twenty years, Emily relocated from Florida to Vermont in 2018 to continue the legacy of her mentor, Rosemary Gladstar. Faced with growing threats due to climate change and development, Sage Mountain's mission is to protect and restore the highly biodiverse habitat we steward, advocate for conservation of adjacent wilderness corridors, and curate hands-on, multidisciplinary educational programs focused on earth stewardship and personal wellness.
