Do you hate Moby-Dick, Herman Melville's classic novel? Did you avoid reading it, or finishing it, when the book was assigned to you in high school or college? If so, it's time to reconsider, via my once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to preach a sermon at the First Universalist Society of Hartland, located in Hartland Four Corners, this coming Sunday at 10:00. The title of the sermon (technically, "reflections," since I'm a lawyer not a minister) is "The Gospel According to Melville: Moby Dick and UU." (UU = Unitarianism/Universalism.) I aim to convince those who show up that not only is Moby-Dick hilarous and sexy -- it is also a book that is uniquely relevant to the weird times in which we find ourselves. All are welcome but please leave your harpoon at home.
