Join Vermont Coverts, Middlebury Area Land Trust and VT Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation for a walk in the woods and workshop to learn how to identify common Vermont trees and shrubs during the winter months. Focusing on their twig, bud, needle, and bark characteristics S. Addison/N. Rutland County Forester Mark Raishart will share about common native and non-native species and suggest resources that participants can use on their own. Mark has been working on the landscape in this region for more than 20 years as a beekeeper, educator, forester, landowner and maple sugarmaker. Please dress appropriately for this outdoor activity and bring a water bottle and snowshoes (if possible and/or necessary). The walk will be around 1 mile on uneven and sloping terrain.
