A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls -- developed at the Boston Roybal Center for Active Lifestyle Interventions -- is an award-winning course for people aged 60 and older that emphasizes practical strategies to manage their fear of falling and to help increase their activity level. Age Well instructor Susan Murray-Grage will teach this free course from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. every Tuesday from January 21 through March 18, 2025, at Deborah Rawson Memorial Library, 8 River Road, in Jericho, Vermont. Class size is limited, and registration is required.
A Matter of Balance is a perfect class for older adults who are concerned about falling or who have fallen in the past; who are interested in improving balance, strength, and flexibility; and who have restricted activities because of falling concerns. During the eight-session course, students will learn to:
- view falls as controllable;
- set goals for increasing activity;
- make changes to reduce fall risks at home;
- exercise to increase strength and balance.
