Washington County has a public comment period on its draft Local Solid Waste Management Plan open until Jan. 24. The County has a public comment meeting at 10 am on Jan. 17.
If you are unhappy with the privatized transfer stations, the lack of good options for recycling or composting, the Hudson Falls trash incinerator, or Washington County's lack of leadership on solid waste, come to our Informational meeting on Wed, Jan 8, 6:30 - 8 pm on Zoom (join online or by phone). Zero Waste Warren County/ Clean Air Action Network of Glens Falls is sponsoring this free meeting to offer guidance for making comments on this local solid waste plan. At this meeting, we will provide an overview of the County's draft Local Solid Waste Management Plan, 2020 - 2029, and its shortcomings and share ideas about how the plan can be strengthened. There will be time for questions and discussion.
Let's start moving Washington County toward Zero Waste now!
Feel free to email me at tracy.frisch@gmail.com. We will make a handout available with info on the local solid waste plan, its weaknesses, and guidance on making comments to the County.
