The Gospel of John: A Spiritual Pilgrimage to the Heart of Faith
8 Wednesdays beginning January 8, 2025
Vergennes Congregational Church
Every new year brings new spiritual opportunities: opportunities to deepen our faith; opportunities to experience the life-giving presence of the risen Christ; opportunities to encounter Scripture as a window to God's transcendent truth. These were precisely the hopes that motivated the evangelist who wrote John's Gospel. The evangelist recounts how Jesus came that "we might have life and have it abundantly," and John's Gospel traces out the path to that flourishing life. The path is not reserved to the perfect, the rigorous, or the intellectual, it's offered to anyone open to actually encountering the risen Christ and experiencing his call. As John put it, he wrote the Gospel "that through believing you may have life in his name." Join us for an experiential course introducing the themes of John's Gospel.
What? An Eight Week introduction to Bible Study as a Spiritual Journey. We'll gather weekly for 8 weeks for warm fellowship, home baked goodies, fresh coffee, hot tea and a transformative engagement with Scripture. (And it's free!)
Who? For both beginners and experienced students of Scripture: This is a "pick your own adventure" course: no required readings, experience or preparation. Beginners will experience an accessible introduction to one of the most beautiful books in the Bible. For those seeking a deeper engagement, we'll offer additional resources each week.
When? Wednesday mornings at the Vergennes Congregational Church from 9:30 - 11:00 am or Wednesday evenings by Zoom 7:30 - 9:00 pm
