The December 13, 14 & 15 2024 weekend at the LH Stowell & Son Christmas Tree Farm is two days away. The previous two weekends have been very good with bake sales each day and lots of nice customers. This Saturday and Sunday the Orange County Parent Child Center will be putting on the Bake Sales including hot food and drinks. Please support our local organizations. It is really nice to have a snack or hot lunch in our warm Christmas Barn before, during and/or after your search for the perfect tree.
We often get calls from new customers wondering if we are sold out of trees yet. We have had a robust planting plan for several years and for the foreseeable future should continue to have plenty of trees each year. If you have a special size and specie that you are looking for, give us a call.
The current weather forecast for today is rain clearing off on Thursday. This weekend will have cool temps but mostly dry. Mostly sunny on Friday, sunny on Saturday, mostly cloudy on Sunday with a 30% chance of snow showers in the afternoon. We plan to plow/snow blow any remaining snow early on Friday morning and will be ready for business on Friday. Dress warm in layers and warm up in our Christmas barn as needed. When you are choosing your wardrobe for the day, consider that we usually have a breeze here which requires a little more clothing and warm boots, hat and gloves.
We are pet friendly as long as you have them on a leash. We also provide children the opportunity to participate in the cutting and carrying of your family's tree(s). We have a porta-potty, just in case.
We still have a few wreaths available. We continue to have fresh pre-cut trees at a reduction in price. These are trees that are in one or more blocks that we wish to clear and start over with a new planting. Our hours are 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Coming on Fridays is a good way to avoid the crowds.
There is a warning on many of the mapping/GPS services stating that Twin Pond Road is closed. Not completely true. The best way to come is from East Street. The East Street sign at its intersection with Route 65 is missing but I have put up a temporary sign pointing to our farm. The access from Route 14 can be a real adventure because the middle of Twin Pond Road is class 4 and not plowed. Therefore, come from East Street because it is plowed and sanded.
We still have an excellent selection of trees growing in the fields waiting for you to choose them. We have 12 species of trees available including Balsam Fir, Fraser Fir, Canaan Fir, Blue Spruce, Scotch Pine and White Pine. We continue to have a few big trees. These will take extra time to harvest so please give us a call before you come and come early before the crowds arrive.
We accept cash, local checks and credit or debit cards. The electric trains are working. Our Maple Candy will be well stocked. We hope to see you soon. 802-276-3382. LH Stowell & Son, 1591 Twin Pond Road, Brookfield, VT 05036.
