The Cabot Community review of the budget the Selectboard has been developing for the past three months, originally scheduled for Monday, December 16, has been canceled. The event is listed on the bottom cover of the December Cabot Chronicle and again on page 5 Save the Dates. It will not happen.
The Selectboard was willing to go through the budget thoroughly with community members, but the community town meeting planning group didn't think we'd get any more attendees than the Selectboard has over the last few months as they developed that budget. So, instead, the group asked the Selectboard to write a summary of changes in direction or level of financial commitment for community members to review, which will be published in the next paper, and questions about specific items will be entertained at the January 23 Community Forum on Town Meeting Articles, also listed on those pages of the Chronicle.
Your neighbors hope you will plan to attend the January 23 event so you will feel fully prepared for Town Meeting votes, even if you are an early voter: All proposed articles will be available for review and questions on the 23rd, because the deadline for submitting petitions for Town Meeting Articles is January 16.
The deadline for submitting petitions for candidates for selectboard or school board is Monday, January 27.
