Again this year, the annual Friends of Music Christmas program will be held at Broad Brook Community Center, while the traditional venue, Christ Church, is closed for repairs and renovations.
The program takes place this Friday and Saturday, December 13 and 14, both nights at 7:30 pm, and is admission-free with donations welcome.
The Guilford Chamber Singers, directed by Tom Baehr, will sing a variety of carols, most of which harken back a few centuries to early traditions, including "O Magnum Mysterium", "Veni, Veni Emmanuel", "Sing We Noel", "Psallite", plus carols from the 9th, 16th and 17th centuries.
Don McLean will read a Christmas poem by Thomas Hardy and the featured story will be "A Guilford Christmas," by late Guilford author, Mimi Morton. The story was written and first read for the Friends of Music Christmas program in 2011, celebrating Guilford's 250th anniversary.
The evening concludes with a carol singalong, accompanied by pianist Molly Melloan.
Broad Brook Community Center is fully accessible, with an elevator to the second floor performance space.
