State Entomologist Judy Rosovsky will present on Forest Pest Insects in Vermont on Thursday, December 19 at 7 PM. Her talk will be at the Salisbury Meeting House at 853 Maple Street in the center of Salisbury villageS. She will give us the latest information on the spread of Emerald Ash Borer, Hemlock Wooly Adelgid, Spotted Lanternfly, Asian Long-horned Beetle, Spongy Moth, and perhaps a few other invertebrates that are impacting our forests. She will also cover their biology and the control measures being used to curtail their spread. Judy has worked with research biologists on a variety of forest health projects, ranging from insect diversity to acid rain monitoring, with the goal of facilitating communication between research scientists, politicians, and the public. She has worked for the Forest Ecosystem Monitoring Cooperative and the US Department of Agriculture. She has also taught as an adjunct instructor at Johnson State College. She lives in Richmond, where she is the chair of the Richmond Conservation Commission.
This presentation is part of the Salisbury Conservation Commission's Thursday Series. All talks are free and open to the public. Presentations generally last a little over an hour and questions are encouraged.
