The third of our monthly community potlucks is coming right up, this Friday, December 13 at the Worcester Town Hall, 5:30 to 7:00. (I did submit a post several days ago, not sure why it hasn't showed up. FPF is so great, that's never happened in all the years I've been posting.)
The first two suppers were really wonderful, the food was fabulous but even more gratifying was having the opportunity to renew connections with friends and neighbors and to meet new community members.
As always, we will provide a big pot of soup and garlic bread (with vegan and gluten free options), and tea and cider for beverages. You bring the rest! It's been working really well, listing the ingredients in the dishes we bring. It makes it more accessible to people with dietary restrictions and food sensitivities or allergies.
This month we are debuting a new idea, calling it the spotlight. Each month one adult and one child will have the opportunity to be in the spotlight, to share something they are passionate about, maybe a hobby, something cool they are doing or learning about, the sky's the limit, really. The presentations will be short, 5-10 minutes.
This potluck will include a short presentation from Murphy Robinson and Kiana LaDeau two of the co-founders of Dandelion Housing Project. They build affordable Tiny Homes for people who want to live simply and close to nature: Dandelion Housing Project is solving the housing crisis in Vermont by building affordable, energy-efficient tiny homes for sustainable living. You can learn more about their project here: https://linktr.ee/dandelionhousingproject" This is right in Worcester, so cool!
Max Maker, age 7 (my grandson) will be our kid in the spotlight. He is going to share about his experiences going "owling" at night at the North Branch Nature Center, including what it felt like (spoiler alert!) to hold a tiny saw whet owl in his cupped hands.
If you, your child, or a child you know, would like to be in the spotlight at a future supper, get in touch with me through FPF or call me at 802 223-4842
Hope we see you Friday,
Laura Atkinson
