Irish Bronze Age Tuath Dé Danann - a Vibrant Culture

Past event
Dec 10, 2024, 6:30 to 8 PM

We're heading back to ancient Ireland again... this time the emergence & culture of the Tuath Dé Danann. We meet at Plainfield's Cutler Library on Tuesday, December 10th... from 6:30-8 p.m. with Michael Cerulli Billingsley.

The Tuath Dé Danann had been dismissed by many archaeologists as being "mythical" and unlikely. But recent discoveries in the past two decades have shed light on their culture, artifacts and a ritual landscape, revealing a strong and vibrant pre-Celtic people.

Michael was team leader for 11 archaeological field research expeditions in SW Ireland. He will discuss stories and finds from the Middle Bronze Age - especially regarding Temair Luachra or "Tara of the Rushes" (the first Tara, in County Limerick).
