On Sunday Dec. 15th at 4:00 pm, Kailea Silvers, Lotta Suter Christopher McWilliams and Rob Griffin will present "The Earth is Singing", a concert of music and poetry for Advent. The concert, which will be held at the First Congregational Church of Berlin (1808 Scott Hill Road, Berlin VT), brings together traditional carols, instrumental works celebrating the season, and beautiful poems by the Swiss nun and poet Silja Walter. The first part of the concert takes its inspiration from Walter's poem "Do not be afraid" and tells the story of the shepherds through the Christmas hymn "From Heaven above I come to you" and several traditional carols. The second part begins with Walter's "The earth is singing" and celebrates the season with carols from Latin America and instrumental works by Grieg and Tchaikovsky. The final part of the program takes its theme from Walter's poem "Heaven in us", exploring the Christmas mystery of "Summer in winter, day in night, heaven in earth."
Join us on our musical journey and for a bit of carol singing. The concert is free and open to all. Donations will be accepted on behalf of Capstone Community Action. There will be a reception following the concert, with the opportunity to view the new exhibit of paintings by Elizabeth Auer.
