Traffic Congestion Forum Dec. 10

Past event
Dec 10, 2014, 7 PM

Tired of sitting in traffic? Worried about congestion getting worse as Hinesburg grows? Frustrated by a 15 minute wait in village traffic at 5:30pm when it took you less time to get there from South Burlington?

On the flip side… Happy about having safe crosswalks with pedestrian signals? Relieved that you can get on to Route 116 from Charlotte Road without divine intervention? Glad to see vehicular traffic controlled and slowed?

53% of respondents to the Town Plan survey said “Controlling Traffic Congestion” was one of the top three challenges facing Hinesburg over the next 5-10 years. Only managing growth and development got more votes. See survey results for question #4 on the Town website at http://www.hinesburg.org. The Planning Commission would like to make recommendations on this issue in the new Town Plan – our vision for Hinesburg’s future. First, they’d like to hear from you – about your experience, about desired outcomes, about possible solutions, etc.

You’re invited! On December 10, 7pm, at the Town Hall, we are holding a community forum on this topic. Free desserts provided along with ample time for Q&A and conversation with your friends, neighbors, and Town Officials. We will have two speakers to help kick off the conversation and provide perspective - Joe Segale, Director of Policy and Planning at the VT Agency of Transportation; and Hinesburg’s own Richard Watts, UVM Professor in Community Development and Applied Economics and the Transportation Research Center. Contact me for more information, questions, or to give feedback outside of a meeting setting.
