We made it to December, so you can stop pretending that you haven't been singing Christmas carols for the past few weeks. Since you're clearly on the naughty list for belting out the classics before Thanksgiving, why not redeem yourself by showing off your pipes at the greatest caroling event of the season, the annual Carol Sing at The Old Round Church? Will there be music inside the only 16-sided wooden church building in the United States? Yes. Joyfulness? Yes. Heat? Well, that depends on you: the more people infused with the spirit of Song and Mirth and Eggnog, the merrier, because ye olde Round Church hath not central heating. But fear not! The Sparks of Joy from our Song will light a mighty Fire of Festive Joy (nb: fire is symbolic/metaphorical - the Round Church and fire do not mix. Leave candles and combustibles at home, please).
Who is doing this? The Richmond Historical Society, of course. And not just once, but twice: there will be two sessions - one at 4 PM and one at 5 PM. Tom Walters and Friends will be leading the singing as they have done for many few years, playing some tunes you know and some you may not. Sing loud, and no one will know the difference (and you might generate more heat - see above).
The event is free, but the Historical Society will have donation baskets available for donations, which will be used for maintenance of the church and preservation of our town's rich history. For more information: rhs@richmondvthistory.org
