Vermont Stage lightens hearts during the dark days of winter with its annual storytelling event, Winter Tales, running December 10 – 14 in FlynnSpace,
Winter Tales is a Vermont Stage holiday tradition that features funny and heartfelt stories, poetry, and songs. Admission includes complimentary hot cider and ginger molasses cookies from B’s Pantry in Essex Junction. The 2014 Winter Tales features brand new stories from award winner writers, including novelist and Vermont State Senate Majority Leader Philip Baruth (Burlington, VT), 10-time New York Times Bestselling author Chris Bohjalian (Lincoln, VT), acclaimed journalist and author Stephen Kiernan (Charlotte, VT), and Emmy-winning journalist and former Vermont resident Lauren Ober (Washington D.C.). The stories will be performed by a talented cast of local storytellers, Cristina Alicea (Winooski), Andrew Butterfield (Burlington), Paul Schnabel (Burlington), and Paul Ugalde (South Burlington) and will be interspersed with seasonally inspired poetry from students at Young Writers Project and original Vermont folk songs from musicians Patti Casey and Pete Sutherland. There will also be a special Gala Benefit performance on Sunday, December 14th at 6pm. This performance is preceded by a silent auction which includes catered hors d'ouerves from family-owned and operated Shelburne favorite La Villa Bistro and a holiday toast courtesy of Citizen Cider.
