The Waitsfield Historical Society will present an event entitled "a General Wait Christmas" on Saturday, November 30, starting at 4 PM at the General Wait house, 4061 Main St., Waitsfield, VT.
The home is the most historic building in the Mad River Valley and is decorated for Christmas inside and out. There will be carolers on the porch to greet you. In the parlor of the home you will find eggnog, cider, hot coco, cookies and a warm fireplace. Major General and Mrs. Wait will be ready to beguile you with stories of what Christmas was like in 1793-frontier Waitsfield.
This event will be a fun and educational get together for all ages —with a heavy emphasis on younger people. There will be photo opportunities. Further, the little ones can color ornaments that they can hang on the Wait's Christmas tree. They can also bring or write letters to Santa Claus. If a return address is on the envelope the letter will be answered by him. Local singers will be present singing Christmas carols. If inspired, please join singing along with them!
Parking is available at the Town Office's parking lot and at the Waitsfield Elementary School.
This event is free. Donations to the Waitsfield Historical Society gladly accepted.
