Good Evening Johnson,
It is with great pleasure that I am here to announce Carri Ferrari's 2nd Free Pumpkin Pie Give Away will be held inside the front entrance of Johnson Woolen Mills on Wednesday, November 27, from 3-5 pm. This is first come, first served and there will be no delivery. Please do not request delivery. If you need one to be picked up by a friend, that's fantastic. No one will be turned away and grabbing one for someone who can't make it is encouraged!!! We will be there until the pies are gone or 5 pm, whichever comes first!!!
It appears that many are unaware of Carri's commitment to bringing cheer and visitors to Johnson. Let me share with you... 2ish years ago, February, 2023, (shortly after I moved to Johnson) I met Carri and she said, "I want to hold an Epic Egg Hunt for our community." In less than 6 weeks, we had 200+ children collecting over 2,000 treat, prize, and local business coupon filled eggs at Olde Mill Park. This year, we had over 300+ children collecting over 5,000 fun filled eggs. Shortly after the Epic Egg Hunt, Carri said, "We need to fundraise so we can do more for our community!!!" She organized the Spring Into Summer Craft Market and Duck Race. Literally, half of her family was in the Gihon before, under, and after the Pearl Street Bridge making sure the ducks were staying the course and racing fairly. It was a great success. (Sadly, due to community challenges it was unable to be held this past summer. ) Shortly after, in July, we suffered our first catastrophic flood of 2023. Carri brought her entire family to Railroad Street to support the Library's urgent mission to save their collection. As we all know, we lost our beloved Sterling Market during that disaster. Carri, always thinking of her community, said, "I want to hold a Haunted House to bring some stress release and screams to Johnson!!!" What a success... over 600 visitors from 22 communities dared to enter our abandoned market to be enthusiastically terrorized. . This year we had over 650 guests from as far away as Hinesburg and Swanton. With funds that enabled her some flexibility, Carri said, "I want to give away 100 free pumpkin pies!!!" In the warmth of the Johnson Woolen Mills, 100 pumpkin pies were indeed given away to Johnson residents. It was at this time Carri also said, "I want to light up my little town so it looks pretty, welcoming, and makes people smile!!!" With the support of the Village Trustees, not only was Main Street lit with lights and boughs but the long dark Power House Bridge was alight once more. The boughs were brought down after the holidays, the string lights remained and have been pretty, welcoming, and filled faces with smiles and hearts with warmth throughout 2024. Carri does not require accolades, awards, or recognition for her outstanding contributions to this community. Carri is not a "talker," she is a role model for "do it!" You all should know her entire family volunteers, for weeks of countless hours, to bring her dreams of bringing you happy experiences to fruition. Her limitless community spirit is truly a gift to all. Please send a huge shout out to Carri Ferrari and her family for working tirelessly to make Johnson a happy and pretty place!!!
Come on in to Johnson Woolen Mills on Wednesday, November 27, 3-5 pm!!! Grab a pumpkin pie from Carri and best wishes for a lovely Thanksgiving.
Cheers,
GiGi
