Community Update: River of Light Lantern Parade 2024
Theme: Creatures and Critters
We are all very excited about this year's lantern parade. Here are some useful bits of information for the night:
WHEN: SATURDAY, DECEMBER 7th, 2024 - The parade starts promptly at 5:00PM
PARADE ROUTE: The starting location is in the front of Brookside Primary School. We leave promptly at 5:00PM and parade up Stowe St. to Main St. to Dac Rowe. Please arrive between 4:15 and 4:45 to retrieve your lanterns. There is no parking in the front of the school. See parking details below.
At Dac Rowe:
FOOD
There will be free hot chocolate available (more than we had last year) at the pavilion.
New this year, Snacks for sale (bagels, fruit, cookies…) by local groups to raise money for their programs.
Dinner (chili with sour cream, cornbread and a cookie $12) will be available to purchase for eat in or takeout at the Senior Center on Stowe St. You can also enjoy dinner out at many of our local restaurants.
ENTERTAINMENT:
Cirque de Fuego will again provide fire spinning for entertainment.
Sambatacuda and Burlington's Brass Balagan will be playing at the park.
Bathrooms and Waterbury Library Activities:
Port-o-lets will be available at Dac Rowe
Waterbury Library will be open for bathrooms and additional activities listed below.
Waterbury Area Senior Center will be joining us to host a bake sale/ warm drinks fundraiser in our SAL Room!
We will also have a holiday card writing station, puzzles, games, coloring pages, and a space to warm up with a nice view of the festivities in Dac Rowe
Doors will be open 4pm-7pm, ALL welcome!
Fire Safety
There will be fire pits and a small bonfire. Please be fire aware and maintain a safe distance.
Lantern Poles should be returned to folks wearing safety vests.
LOST CHILD: If you and your child get separated at the park, please go to the hot chocolate stand at the pavilion and we will help you reunite!
