Greetings Cambridge Community Members,

On Tuesday 11/19 at 6p, the Cambridge Select board has called a special meeting to review and discuss the work and recommendations from the Annual Town Meeting Advisory Committee.

The meeting will start with a presentation on the Committee's research and recommendations. Followed by a question and answer session.

The Annual Town Meeting Modernization recommendations will include ones that do not require statute changes and ones that will require statute change.

Below are the four Select board directives the Advisory Committee has been working through. They are the basis for the recommendations the Committee is bringing forward.

The Advisory Committee (AC) has been meeting monthly since May 2, 2024 researching and formulating recommendations regarding these four Select board directives:

Research options to increase participation in Town Meeting that comply with State statutes.

Consider potential different models of participation where registered voters provide feedback, and which may or may not include changing the current form of floor vote of Town Meeting.

Research impact to other towns in the State with similar size and population as the Town of Cambridge.

Develop cost estimates as to the impact of the Town budget for modernization.
