Burlington This Is You! is a participatory documentary exploring the foundations and future of community media in Burlington and beyond. As part of the participatory nature of this project, the audience discussion will be recorded and may be included in the final version of the film.

Since 1984, Burlington's Chittenden Community Television (CCTV) has exemplified community media as activism. Set against the backdrop of an emerging progressive movement in 1980's Burlington, Vermont, CCTV's story provides context for a national fight against corporate control of information and access. Burlington This Is You! excavates CCTV's 40-year video archive amidst leadership transition and a new generation of media activists, exploring how community media fosters curiosity and compassion in the information age.

The work sample will be introduced by Dr. Antoine Haywood, community media historian at the University of Florida, placing the CCTV story within the national context. Following the screening, Dr. Haywood and Myles David Jewell will moderate an open discussion with attendees. Tickets must be reserved in advance. Attendance is free of charge, though a donation to CCTV is encouraged.
