Greetings neighbors. You are all invited to join together for a community meal on November 28. Our intention is to be a safe and inclusive space for all identities and bodies, to create a sense of a larger family amongst ourselves in community, and to hold each other in our grief and our joy in this moment.
Bring yourself, your partners, your friends, your neighbors, or your whole family. We strongly welcome anyone who would be alone that day and wants company and scrumptious food. We will serve turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, squash, cranberry sauce, gravy, and pie. You are invited to bring something to share if inspired; this might be a family recipe, your favorite comfort food, or something you whip up from what's left of your garden.
We will all eat together family style, with ritual and intention around our gathering and acknowledgement of the colonial/white settler roots of this holiday. Our hope is that we can together reimagine what family looks like and create new traditions together, while providing some aspects of what may be familiar to many of us. Let us come together in this time to support one another and take stock of where we're at.
Since we are coming together as family, we welcome and encourage your involvement in the day. We need help getting the invitation out, getting ingredients donated, prep and cooking and other kitchen help the day before and day of, set up, clean up, and we're putting together a gathering to bake pies a couple days ahead of time.
