Don't Burn Our Future: Clean Power Now: Thursday, Dec. 5, 7:00-8:30 pm. Tenney Library, Rt. 5, Newbury VT. Where is Vermont in addressing the climate crisis and what can towns and individuals do in the year ahead to make tangible progress? 350VT is holding outreach and education events around the state this fall-winter to address this issue.
Jonathan Dowds, Renewable Energy Vermont, will lay out options for how we can meet the state's new renewable energy goals. How much community solar could we build as part of that? Should wind be reconsidered? Do we prefer to have huge solar arrays owned by the utilities or do we want to see smaller arrays that are publicly owned? Alternatives to burning fuels will be considered, such as thermal energy networks, weatherization, and heat and ground source heat pumps. How will we pay for all this?
Reducing emissions is up to us. At the end of the meeting, people may opt in for continuing to be involved at whatever level they can, in whichever area speaks to them.
