Vermont Theatre Company - One Acts
Vermont Theatre Company (VTC) is thrilled to debut their 2024-2025 season with its production of one act plays at the Evening Star Grange in Dummerston, Thursday through Sunday, November 21-24. VTC Artistic Director Jessica Iris (Gelter) has brought together four directors to work in a peer-support cohort to learn, share ideas, advice, and passions with each other in bringing four distinctively unique plays to life.
Casey Parles will direct Emotional Baggage by Lindsay Price, an exploration of the feelings we carry with us and the things we need to let go of that takes place entirely without dialogue, relying solely on the intricacies of movement and gesture to communicate some of our deepest truths. The cast includes Tracy Berchi, Eli Coughlin-Galbraith, Heather Herring, Ann Linge, Seth Rosenbaum, Tosha Tillman, Rose Watson, and Robert Wellington.
Dante Mauriello has adapted Nathaniel Hawthorne's gothic story Rappaccini's Daughter for the stage and will also direct. The play uses classic horror devices to depict how deadly it can be when people mistake possession and control for love. He has cast Robin Fitzgerald as Giovanni Guasconti, Eden Gorst as Beatrice Rappaccini, Bridget McBride as Dame Lisabetta, Kira Storm as Professor Baglioni, and Laura Lockie as Doctor Rappaccini.
JM Synge's classic In the Shadow of the Glen will be directed by Kay Beckett. The play is a dark, poetic comedy, a meditation on time, loneliness, and personal freedom. The cast features Saskia Bailey-de Bruijn as Nora Burke, Thomas Ely as the Tramp, Geof Dolman as Dan Burke, and Avery (Aslan) Thompson as Michael Dara.
Director Jesse Tidd will be aiming for laughs with his production of 11:11 by James Perry, a fun and silly play about time travel, friendship, potatoes, and the butterfly effect. Harral Hamilton and Tim Guarente will play Sean and Will.
There will be three evening performances, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:00 PM, and one matinee, Sunday at 2:00 PM. $15, suggested donation.
