The Islands are a special place; how do we preserve what we have, build on our strengths and ensure a vibrant and successful future for all? Join community members, businesses and friends for an Islands Summit, and participate in creating a shared vision and a plan to make the Islands a better place to live, work and play. Let’s take action and accomplish projects! Here are some examples to choose from:
• Improve Transportation and Parking
• Become a Biking Destination
• Expand Agri-Tourism opportunities for local growers and farmers
• Build an Islands Events Calendar and improve communications among all users
• Bring more Community Programs into Schools
• Develop an Islands’ based housing-with-services option for our aging population
• Create Tourism opportunities in the islands and promote them through marketing
• Expand the Community and Economic Development Capacity of Islands
• Develop Recreational opportunities for youth & all members of the community
• Build on the Food Economy and develop “shop local” programs
Facilitating the meeting will be Gerianne Smart. Gerianne is a public relations, marketing and communications specialist who most recently applied her talents at ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center as their Director of Marketing.

The Lake Champlain Islands Economic Development Corporation is hosting the meeting, with support from a Healthy and Sustainable Communities grant received through the Northwest Regional Planning Commission. Community leaders will be on hand to assist. The evening is free and open to all. We can’t do this without you! Call LCIEDC at 372-8400 for more information and to RSVP.
