Repair Workshop at the Craftsbury Library

This Saturday the Craftsbury Library is hosting a Repair Workshop from 10am to 1pm. We have a bunch of great options for people with items in need of repair. Depending on the project and the interest of the item's owner, the experts will either teach participants how to make the repair, make the repair themselves on the spot, or advise on how to go about making the repair. Here are the repair experts who have volunteered their time to this project:

FIBER GOODS- Sterling College faculty member Prin Van Gulden and her students will be on hand for repairs for knitted items and woven items. If you have a loved sweater that needs darning, or a blanket with holes or a tattered edge, Prin and her team can help.

SEWING REPAIRS- Lisa Santamore will be on hand to help with sewing repairs. If you need a seam resewn, a button reattached, or a patch put on, look for Lisa and her sewing machine at the library. Small repairs can be taken care of on the spot, and Lisa can advise on larger projects.

WOOD REPAIRS- Dave Brown will be at the library to help people with wooden items that need help. If you have a small item to bring in, Dave can look it over with you and make simple repairs. For larger items and projects, come by to talk with Dave about the issue and he can give ideas and advice about how you can tackle the project.

COMPUTER HELP- Michael Burns will be on hand to help out with computer problems. If you can bring in your computer, he can troubleshoot problems you are having like why your computer is suddenly running so slowly, how to adjust your settings so it is easier to read the screen, or why your keyboard has a sticky key.

HOME ENERGY ADVICE- The Craftsbury Energy Committee will be set up with all their energy and weatherization gadgets, plus some you can borrow from the library. Come see how the Kill-A-Watt meter actually works, check out the infrared heat measurement device the Energy Committee has for people to use on their houses, and see the firewood moisture meter in action!

KNIFE SHARPENING- John Gunterman will be set up with his sharpening equipment to help get dull blades back in good repair. If you have a knife that used to work well but has dulled over time, this is your chance to get some help with that problem.

The fun doesn't stop there, though! There will also be refreshments on hand and door prizes drawn throughout the day donated by our partners in this project, Sterling College and the Craftsbury Energy Committee.

WANT TO HELP?
• If you have a skill we don't have covered, we'd love to add it!
• Do you have a coffee maker we could borrow for the day?
• Are you a baker? We would welcome additional contributions of cookies, sweet breads, or any other snacks for our refreshment table!

This program is supported financially by the Association for Rural and Small Libraries. Thanks also to our partners Sterling College and the Energy Committee!
