An Alburgh man, Benjamin Mott, was transported on a prison ship to Australia for his participation in the 1837-8 Patriot's War (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lower_Canada_Rebellion), rooted in the Papineau Rebellion.
Canadian historian and cinematographer Deke Richards will present his one-hour video, "Land of a Thousand Sorrows Revisted," which follows the untold and unknown (until now) story of the American Patriots captured in the Lower and Upper Canadian Rebellions, exiled to the Penal Colonies of Australia from 1840 to 1860, and their legacy there today.
