For nearly a couple of years, now, a number of area menfolk have been gathering together every few weeks to sing 'round a fire. No other agenda. Just song and connection, and honoring the rhythm of the year as we go. Just feels something old, simple and true to being human.
Come and connect by the fire for a bit and we'll circle up shorly after 7. I always have plenty of songs to lead but welcome other contributions. A little poetry and/or other sharing interspersed with the music is welcomed.
We always have some new folks, so don't hesitate if it's your first time. We'd love to have you.
Hit me with questions if you have them. RSVP to learn our "top secret" (not so secret) location.
As one friend put it to me recently, it's a sweet chance for "singing in the season, singing in the times and singing us all more alive!"
Hope you can join us.
~ David
PS - All ages welcome.
*Why men? I believe singing and singing together, particularly, to be a human birthright we've largely lost. But, if the general population has largely lost it, male-identified folks may have even more often actually been told not to sing. I've witnessed the power of men reclaiming their voices and their joy in singing together and feel called to support that.
Yet, while tricky to both invite menfolk together and also sincerely communicate inclusion, this is my goal. Anyone drawn by this invite is welcome, including non-binary/gender queer/trans-masculine folks, seeking this kind of space and connection. If you feel called to come, that's the metric. Please reach out to share your experience if you have questions or don't feel included.
