Alpha is a series of interactive sessions to discuss life and faith in an informal, fun, and friendly environment. All are invited, no matter their background or beliefs. It is free, and there is no pressure to come back. Each of the sessions begins with a meal, followed by a brief video on a broad question of faith. Guests are encouraged to participate in a small group discussion and share their views on the topic.
Alpha provides a welcoming and friendly atmosphere to explore the big questions of life and what the Christian faith has to say about them.
First, there's Food: because food has a way of bringing people together. It's no different at Alpha. We start with a free dinner to encourage building community and getting to know each other.
Then a Video: designed to engage and inspire conversation. Generally 30 minutes long, the videos explore the big issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity, addressing questions such as 'Who is Jesus?' and 'In today's world, how can we have faith?'
Followed by Discussion: the discussion time is a chance to share thoughts and ideas on the evening's topic in a small group. There's no obligation to say anything. There's nothing you can't say. It's an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your perspective in an honest, friendly, and open environment.
