The 2nd Public Informational Meeting regarding the formation of a Municipal Fire Department in the town of Berlin will occur Tuesday October 29th, beginning at 6:30PM, at the Four Corners Fire Station.
The following question is on the General Election ballots (that have already been sent out) for the Town of Berlin residents - "Shall the Town of Berlin form a Municipal Fire Department and acquire the assets and liabilities of the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department Inc. into the municipality?" The Berlin Volunteer Fire Department, Incorporated, (BVFD) is a private entity, self-governed and ruled, that provides fire protection services to the Town of Berlin. The department is primarily funded by the town and its taxpayers but is not currently a town department (like the police or highway departments). The Corporation, Selectboard and Steering Committee are in favor of this transition to a Municipal Fire Department and would appreciate your positive support as a town voter on this ballot item.
