The Glow Ride rolls out and lights up your life again Saturday October 26!
Brought to you each year by Montpelier Complete Streets, the Glow Ride marks the start of our annual Be Bright at Night event series to raise awareness of the importance of lights and reflective gear to help motorists see cyclists and pedestrians when it's dark. There will be Glow Walks and Glow Runs to come, so stay bright!
What is it?
A no-drop, family friendly evening bike ride around the city led by Complete Streets Committee members. Our route is typically ~4 miles for any level rider including Main, Barre, Sibley, Sabin, Kemp, College, Liberty, Elm and State streets. We always have participants of all ages, bikes of all types, and lots of fun!
Why we ride?
Winter is coming and the darkness of morning and evening makes it hard to see others sharing the road. This event is a reminder to all who walk or ride to wear reflective clothing and use other safety equipment and to motorists to stay alert for pedestrians and bicyclists.
Where and when?
Meet at 39 Main St/City Hall @ 6:00 pm (ride will depart at 6:30 pm)
How to Prepare:
Bring your bike, test your Halloween costume for rideability (optional), and put on lights – lots of lights! Need a bike light or reflective vest? We got you. Dress warmly and for all weather. There is no rain date.
After-ride:
We'll have snacks and stickers to share to celebrate the kick-off of Be Bright at Night!
