Monday Munch at the Charlotte Senior Center ushers in the get-ready-for-Halloween season with pumpkin cookies. accompanying a favorite combo: chili and coleslaw.
Many US residents got their first taste of chili at the Chicago World's Fair in 1893. In 1977, it became the official dish of Texas, but by then it was popular throughout the country.
Besides enjoying this fine meal prepared by volunteer cooks at the Charlotte Senior Center, take a child you know over to the Little Free Library for Kids located just outside The Grange, 2858 Spear Street, where kids are invited to choose a book to take home. As a longtime reading teacher, I can assure you that kids of all ages will find something enticing.
