MEET THE CANDIDATES

The public is invited to attend a Candidate Forum on Tuesday, October 22, 7 to 9 p.m., at the Bennington Firehouse, 3rd floor, 130 River Street, Bennington.

Sponsored by the Bennington Branch of the American Association of University Women, a nonpartisan organization, invited candidates include all candidates running in the November 5 election for State Senate from Bennington County and for State Representative in Bennington Districts 2 and 5. They are:

State Representative (BENN 2)

State Representative (BENN 5)
*Jim Carroll (D)
*Mary Morrissey (R)
Michael Nigro (D)

State Senator (Bennington County)
Steve Berry (I)
Seth Bongartz (D)
Cynthia Browning (I)
Joseph "Joe" Gervais (R)
Rob Plunkett (D)
Lawrence "Spike" Whitmire (R)

The moderator will be AAUW Past President Kathy Wagenknecht. She will pose several questions formulated by a planning committee and, if time allows, open up the forum to audience questions. A reception follows the forum at 9 p.m. for an opportunity to talk with the candidates and pick up campaign material.

"The forum is necessarily limited by the extensive list of 12 candidates and the two-hour time limit we've had to place on the evening," says AAUW Branch President Suzanne Kirkpatrick. "But we are confident that Bennington voters will come away with a deeper knowledge of the candidates and their stand on
issues that affect our county and state."

The Candidate Forum will be cablecast by CAT-TV and shared with GNAT-TV.
