In Chekhov's comedy - perhaps his most popular play - Lyubov Andreyevna's estate is torn by powerful forces rooted deep in history and in the society around them. Their estate is hopelessly in debt: urged to cut down their beautiful cherry orchard and sell the land for holiday cottages, they struggle to act decisively. Chekhov's wonderfully vivid characters are full of humor and pathos as they attempt to find love, fulfillment and hope in the dying days of the Russian aristocracy. Directed by Melissa Lourie and featuring an all-star Vermont cast.
