Looking for a civics refresher in advance of the November 5th election? The Sharon Democratic Committee has organized three purely educational and non-partisan presentionations. No political party or candidates will be mentioned, discussed or promoted. All are welcome.
The first is scheduled for Thursday, October 17th on the topic of Voting in Vermont. These presentations will be held at the Sharon Congregational Church's Steele Chapel, at the intersection of Route 132 and Route 14. Parking is available in the park-and-ride or across Route 132 at The Sharon Academy middle school. Informational handouts and refreshments will be available.
Thursday, October 17 from 5:30 - 6:30 pm: Voting in Vermont - with Dottye Ricks of the League of Women Voters - covering topics such as: Voter registration, the safety and security of Vermont's elections, and the role of the Town Clerk and Justices of the Peace/Board of Civil Authority in Vermont's elections.
Wednesday, October 23 from 5:30 - 6;30 pm: How Bills Get Passed in Vermont - with Senator Dick McCormack, retiring after more than 30 years of public service and a former teacher of history and government.
Tuesday, October 29 from 5:30 - 6:30 pm: The Electoral College - with Andrew Lane, Head of School at The Sharon Academy Middle School, a former social studies teacher and history enthusiast.
