Join us at the Bixby Library on Thursday, November 14th from 5 to 6:30 PM for a conversation with Vermont historian J. Kevin Graffagnino on his new book, "Ira Allen: A Biography."
Graffagnino, former curator of Vermont history at UVM and past Executive Director of the Vermont Historical Society, uncovers the life of Ira Allen—a key but often overlooked figure in Vermont's founding. In this talk, Graffagnino will explore Allen's role as a land speculator, pamphleteer, politician, and revolutionary, long hidden by the shadow of his brother, Ethan Allen.
"He is a complex human being. You don't have to like him. You don't have to admire him. But you've got to put him in the picture," said Graffagnino of Ira Allen in an interview with Vermont Public.
Pick up our copy of "Ira Allen: A Biography" from the Bixby's New Nonfiction Collection, and mark your calendar on November 14th to sit down with the author.
