Frauds, Scams and Con Artists are Coming to a Computer Near You!
Guilford Cares will host AARP Vermont Fraud Watch for a presentation of their popular program, "Fraud, Scams and Con Artists Coming to a Computer Near You"
Date: Thursday, October 24th at 1:00 pm
Where: Broad Brook Community Center, 3940 Guilford Center Road, Guilford
Elliott Greenblott, Coordinator, AARP Vermont Fraud Watch, will cover the why, how and basic defense regarding scams perpetrated over the internet. This presentation is continuously revised to address the latest cyber threats and addresses how to recognize malicious emails and pop-ups as well as Wi-Fi issues arising from the increased use of tablets and smart phones.
As Elliott says, "Scams are part of everyday life. Some are fairly simple, while others are quite complex. Even with vigilance and awareness, most of us can become victims. As a victim of a recent scam, I can verify how even a reasonably well-prepared person can end up on the losing side of fraud."
Thanks to the Guilford Cares Support Group for coming up with the idea for this program!
