In his new book, "Wild Chocolate: Across the Americas in Search of Cacao's Soul," Rowan Jacobsen takes readers on a journey deep into the Amazon rainforest, through thousands of years of history, and into kitchens where humble looking cacao beans are pounded and melted into something so magical that it has been called "food of the gods." Meet Rowan at The Galaxy Bookshop this Tuesday, October 15, at 7pm, where he'll talk about the travels and research behind his book. Mateo of Prophecy Chocolate will join Rowan to talk about his own experiences with growing cacao and turning it into delectable chocolate drinks and bars. Mateo will demonstrate the traditional way to prepare chocolate, as a beverage, and share samples! Books and chocolates will be available to purchase.
