For those of you interested in learning more, the concept of RAFT (Recovery After Floods Team) is to assist individuals and families impacted by flooding and other natural disasters and support resilience building in light of almost certain future disasters. We are forming a non-profit volunteer organization modeled after the other 8 FEMA recognized Long Term Recovery Groups (LTRGs) in Vermont who have been working to help their communities to recover from the flooding events. Recovery can take months, long after the FEMA and VT Emergency Management teams have done what they can.
Essentially: RAFT will be a volunteer-led non-profit organization to help residents and families build resilience and preparedness and make adaptations for the future.
