Neighborhood Conversations on Crime & Safety

Past event
Oct 26, 2024, 1 to 3 PM

The Bethel Town Meeting and Community Engagement Committee (TMCEC) has partnered with the Bethel Equity and Inclusion Committee (BEIC) to facilitate neighborhood conversations about residents' experiences of crime and safety in our community. These conversations are planned for the week of October 21 and all meetings at 5:30-7:30 pm unless otherwise specified.

Most of the conversations will take place at people's homes and we hope to specifically identify common issues we are facing such as excessive speed, substance use, theft, violence, interaction with law enforcement, etc. We will discuss the remedies that currently exist to address these issues, and identify additional ways we can prevent and/or respond to these issues. We are hoping these conversations are primarily relationship building where neighbors can get to know each other, hear each others' concerns, and think about ways to support each other

A follow up meeting will take place at Town Hall on Tuesday November 12 at 5:30pm to share everything our committees heard and to have discussion on implementation of ideas generated by community members on how to address ongoing concerns.
